报告题目:Biosynthesis of Natural Product Analogues using Engineered Bacteria
摘要:
Natural products are secondary metabolites produced by various living organisms such as bacteria,fungi,and plants.Most antimicrobial drugs in use today are natural products or natural product derivatives.Although natural product drugs exhibit potent biological activities,their drug properties could be enhanced by structural modification.However,chemical synthesis of natural product analogues is highly challenging due to their complex structure.To overcome this barrier,we are developing abiosynthetic method for natural product analogue production.I will present two such projects:1)biosynthesis of analogues of echinomycin,which is anon-ribosomal peptide natural product with antimicrobial and anticancer activities and 2)biosynthesis of analogues of lasalocid A,which is apolyether natural product drug with potent antibacterial activity.Our approach involves synthetic biology,protein engineering,and X-ray crystallography.

报告人简介:Kim Chu-Young副教授,在康奈尔大学获得学士学位,在宾夕法尼亚大学获得硕士与博士学位,师从David W.Christianson,在斯坦福大学从事博士后研究,师从Chaitan Khosla。在新加坡国立大学担任助理教授和副教授10年后,移居美国,现在德克萨斯州立大学埃尔帕索分校担任副教授。研究方向包括1)天然化合物药物生物合成酶的结构和机制研究,2)基于治疗和诊断的适体的开发。已在包括Nature,J.Am.Chem.Soc.,Angew,Chem.Int.Ed.,PNAS在内的国际著名刊物上发表论文27篇。2016年获德克萨斯州立大学系统STARs(Science and Technology Acquisition and Retention)奖;2013,2014年获新加坡国立大学最佳文章奖;2006,2012年获新加坡国立大学青年科学家奖;2011,2012年获新加坡国立大学科研导师奖。
